Cindy saw her PC today and all is well! Her heart appeared to be too large on her chest X-ray so they did an echo. All during the echo I was worrying needlessly. I was just positive that her aortic valve had become too stenotic and that was why her heart was too large. Or perhaps her right pulmonary artery was too small or maybe her VSD's were too big. But the echo showed that her heart is just fine! Her heart was not any bigger than last time her coarctation has not returned her bicuspid aortic valve is still working fine and her pulmonary artery is fine.
Cindy is growing like a weed. At 3.5 she weighs 37 pounds and is 38 inches tall. She is above average for both her height and weight. Her activity level is fine. Sometimes I wish she would slow down.
The only bad thing is that Cindy is still having PVC's but I knew that. So they sent Cindy home with a holter monitor yet again. They will call me with the results of her holter test in a week or two. At first Cindy was really upset about having the holter leads stuck to her chest and demanded that we take them off. But she soon settled down and has not complained about the holter in hours. We even went for a VERY long walk with her lugging the holter monitor along in a fanny pack.
Cindy has recently developed quite an interest in water towers and she wanted to walk to the local water tower today. I think it is about 2 miles round trip. Cindy walked the whole distance by herself and without complaining.

Cindy with her Pediatric Cardiologist Dr. McCloskey at Mary Bridge Children's Health Center in Tacoma. Dr. McCloskey really seems to care about his little patients.
Cindy knows all her letters and colors and shapes and can count to 15 but she does not recognize numbers yet. She will be very prepared by the time she starts school in two years.

Cindy's cardiologist called yesterday with good news. The results of her holter test were the same as the last two times so nothing needs to be done about her PVC's.
Today we went to a party for all the heart children who go to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital. We were both feeling under the weather but we had fun. They had face painting, balloons, buttons, entertainment and refreshments. All of the doctors and nurses from the heart clinic were there too. I took the day off work just to go to the party.
As I drove Cindy to Mary Bridge today I was reminded of the first trip Cindy and I took there. Our first trip was in an ambulance with the sirens blaring and the lights flashing in the middle of rush hour. Luckily we were traveling opposite of the really bad traffic. What a trip that was, I'll never forget that day. That was the day that I was told "you're baby has heart disease". I was so naive about congenital heart disease at the time that my first thought was "how could her arteries be clogged already?"
